Robert if you are looking for a sound change then try a cylindrical K&N directly on top of the TB. It works on the Duratec. My motivation for change was mainly to remove the unsightly plastic Ford air box that was crudely mounted on top of the engine. It bashed the bonnet and sucked hot air from over the exhaust manifold but I don’t think the GDI suffered one of those.

By the way, do you think that greater vibration of the MAF sensor because of a direct mounting on top ot the TB would increase likeliness of damage to the sensor?
