Here in South Nottinghamshire it is 39 degrees in the shade. Just returned from checking our horses. Gave them some more "ice lollies" and topped up their water. Teddy need 4.5 gallons to replenish his - that is since 11:00 am when the farrier left. Glad we went to check, he would not have lasted out until 8pm on what he had left.
Farrier arrived at 09:00 and left at 11:00 - two sets of shoes hot fitted. He hardly broke into a sweat - must be a lot fitter than me. He told us that he had re-planned his day and started at 06:00am aiming to finish before the worst of the heat. Sadly Mrs Farrier has taken the opportunity to impose a jobs list on him. All he seems to have achieved is an extra 3 hours on his working day.
