The reliability rating is derived from a number of factors including the cost of repairs which will likely be more costly on a high end car.
Therefore not a true reflection of actual reliability IMHO. How likely a car is to break down or need specialist attention is of more interest to most of us surely.
Having said that, there's enough information available to confirm that German cars in general don't merit their high end reputation and also that JLR products top most lists of unreliable products.
