Talking to other Porsche owners it seems that mechanical problems are rare, but expensive. A Porsche extension warranty is available and recommended, if only because the owner controls when the money is spent, not chance.
All Tarka's unplanned service issues have been electronic.... or wear and tear. So far, an after market warranty would have been pointless.

As I plan to do. So far I'm very happy with the car, it has "something" that I find quite beguiling!
