There are two sides to QA and accreditation.
Firstly you might want the accreditation for its own sake, to say you have it.
Secondly you want QA that actually works well for you. Yo7 can have this without accreditation. I think Toyota did that as they believed their QA was better than the BS5750 and its successors.
The Standards in themselves are not a guarantee of quality or further improvement processes. Good QA involves setting out processes and procedures that
a) reduce and prevent failures.
b) improve control of processes/procedures to enable further improvement
c) reduce costs of failures
d) increase reputation that brings in orders.
e) improves the culture in thecompany.
