Coming back to the initial question...
Well, not in the sixties but in the late eighties I started active motoring. In the mid eighties I started individual mobility (cycling) and motoring was kind of peak individual mobility and my absolute fascination. Step by step there were dreams coming true and with rising budget all my automotive dreams were coming reality.
Traffic developed in the opposite direction. It got a lot more dense, parking became much more difficult and expensive and for many tasks the car is simply not the comfort device.
Smaller car brands were gobbled up by big corporates (yes I am part of one of these) and heritage was used for quick wins. No romantic Lamborghini tour with the great feeling of reaching your destiny without a major brake down... Now they run perfectly reliable like clockwork...
Family business like MORGAN were invaded by money from the capital market as discussed in many threads.
So, yes it is turning to mobility devices - apart from fascination with just a couple of exemptions of new fascinating cars.
So I am the lucky one to build of of them (advertisment part): If you get the opportunity to test an AUDI e-tron GT.... do it.
It is more of all you could request and we work on the next one that will be even quicker (you won`t need it)...
A real modern gran tourismo...
As I moved back to the center of a small town in deep Bavaria I don`t need a car at all. Cycling to railway station takes me to Munich an Ingolstadt without fuss and means real freedom as there is no device to be looked after. On the weekends I do live in one of the main retreat areas for Munich so try to not use a car at all.
So for most of the time the Morgan as well as the Eco sit in the garage and do wait for better times.
The trip to Goodwood will be real luxury as it is triple expensive in the Morgan and it will be time consuming.
I am really curious what fascination tells me after this drive...
