I prefer the “daintier” look of the 4/4 and the 1800 Zetec sport is plenty fast enough for me although I understand where you’re coming from regarding wafting.
I remember back in 2006 or so I was holding forth about how a nice light 4/4 didn't need anything more than 120-130bhp tops as that would deliver plenty of usable performance.
Then I drove one of Kevin Vernon's 165bhp Ecotec conversions and was completely smitten. Heaven on a stick for me.
