Hi Andy, At first I thought the factory set up was fine, but given some time using the car we thought the factory suspension on our Plus Six felt that the rear did not work well with the front when cornering, over bumps and hard road camber changes. Although the suspension worked it did not feel that right.
The SSL kit replaces front and back coil overs using their own designed spring rates and Spax adjustable shocks, in addition, the front roll bar has a different drop link fitted that changes how the front roll bar interacts with the suspension.
The overall result feels like the front is more planted without the hard jolts, the rear feels slightly harder sprung. The rear now seems to work with the front when cornering and overall it feels much more planted and smooth.
We also try to use our car for touring and have had no grounding issues fully loaded with luggage, passenger and driver since the SSL kit was fitted. It copes well with the extra luggage weight on the rear.
I would drop Peter Ballard an email at design@suspensionsupplies.co.uk I am sure he would discuss with you the spec and setup of the SSL kit for the Plus Six. I sent SSL several emails before we decided to go with their kit.
If you do a search on this forum there are a couple of threads ref the SSL upgrade.
Hope this helps.
Dave
