Owning a car that's been built by a team of folks just down the road, that isn't about aggression but fun. All it ever inspires in other people is affection or amusement.
It's simple and easy to maintain at home, comparatively inexpensive to run, and huge fun to drive because you're not isolated from what's happening. Its performance envelope can be explored at sensible speeds, you don't have to be putting your licence on the line every time you fancy a hoon about the place.
It has been the means through which I have made some enduring friendships that I value enormously.
