As in all things in life, its sometimes better to bend your expectations rather than forego the opportunity of some real fun. It may have been the stage in my life at the time, but I found my more simple early Morgans the Kent and '85 CVH engined Morgans, have been the most reliable and simple fun of all my Morgans.

I never experienced the spectre of will it get me there and back, ever enter my thoughts with those cars. I did quite a bit of continental touring in both with no mishap, just simple greasing requirement and a good service before hand. The Kent engined 4 seater I used everyday for 3 years. Simple electronics, adequate ground clearance and uncomplicated easy to source if necessary components, built up a confidence in the product.. Yes it leaked in heavy rain, but the hoods are better designed today, which could be incorporated into a replacement eg the hoods now have a larger roll across the back of the hood rail, which stopped most of the water getting in under the gap between the screen fasteners, I used to experience with the original hood and so on.

I've always maintained you can have equally good fun in other open topped cars, I love driving the wife's SLK, but there is something a little different in a Morgan, because you always 'arrive' making a statement in a Morgan, you may be a little more exposed to road dirt, occasional cold or wet patch but at least it was often more intimate, often more fun and you can dress for the worst/inclement weather where necessary.
