Ditto, and I'll be spannering and adding tweaks myself too, there's bound to be Beemer ECU specialists able to unlock it
The current depth of documented fixes and work arounds is the only real difference I see between the ownership of a trad and the CX. I'm sure as the CX come out of warranty and are tinkered with, that position will change for the better.. I was quite impressed by John's retrofitting of a stereo system into his CX, whilst it may have been a more sophisticated unit, a practical measured approach had it fitted in no time.
One only has to look at the depth of work arounds on the 3 wheelers to appreciate the skills and ingenuity of the community.
I 've had my last trad Morgan, the left leg can't handle extensive use of the clutch in dense traffic, which is an increasing reality where I live, So a few weeks on I do miss the Morgan and an automatic CX maybe the only way forward.
I did use my kent 4/4 for 3 years as my daily driver, whilst utterly reliable and regularly serviced, it fell apart, the inner wings and chassis rusted, the frame started to rot with all the exposure to rain etc., it needed rebuilding after just 3 years of daily use in all weathers . At least the CX is better built, better equipped and much more capable by comparison. The world moves on, and so must we, if we are not to be left behind in our mists of nostalgia.
