Traction control would not be a bad thing to add to the M3W. I imagine the rear wheel breaking loose with very little provocation in its current guise.

I'm not so sure that driver aids like traction control are always a good thing on a sports car, it's better to learn to control the car with skill and experience.

I agree that the S&S engine is a little rough and would benefit from being smoothed out a bit, maybe a balancer shaft, if it doesn't already have one? The vibrations at certain speeds go beyond 'character' in my opinion, though by no means awful or a reason not to love the car.

A V twin of nearly 2 litres will vibrate, full stop. If you add a balance shaft, you will be adding a lot of weight to the engine, and a lot of inertia, thus impeding responsiveness.

"thus impeding responsiveness."
Oh no, you do not want to do that, we'll stick with the mobile vibrator then, thanks.

True dat. However, to go back to the aforementioned Guzzi engine, a 90° twin will have better inherent mechanical balance than a 56.25° one.
