My 1980 4/4 has a hard brake line that runs directly to the right side rear wheel cylinder, and then a second line that connects from the right to the left. I haven't seen such a roundabout connection before - and while I know the hydraulic fluid may not care (if it's bleed well) - I'd expect a brass T over the axle and separate runs to each side (with a bleeder on both side) might work better to get the air out of the system. Was this a previous owner getting creative when they lost parts, or was this an actual MMC setup for this car?
I can add a T and make up new lines to both sides, but I can't believe this was the factory set up. Thanks in advance...Logg.

Should have mentioned there is a flex hose before the axle - it's not hard pipe from frame to axle as that would obviously cycle and fail. Should have been more precise with my words. Logg

Logg .... here's mine with T-piece ... during the resto, so all sat in place waiting to be connected up .... guessing yours has been PO modified!

My .'72 is the same as above with a T piece, but in my vague collection of memories, I'm sure I've seen a set up like yours with a hard link pipe between rear cylinders. so it may be a factory fit.

I have seen early cars plumbed in with both methods from MMC.

The T-piece is a better system for bleeding , but both will work well, especially if you have a "power bleeder" .

If it worries you , then plumb in a T-piece , but if not continue to drive on your current system and make a note to convert it when you do a rebuild , or other major work.

Thanks to all for the info - I've never seen a series connection from cylinder to cylinder but can power bleed for now. A "T" and new lines over the axle go on the "list", but not at the very top. Logg
