I'm with Jays on this:

Modern "X" ring chains kept clean with a Scott Oiler have a life of, well who knows? I did nearly 30,000 miles on my 1050 Tiger and the chain was still in specification when I sold it. That engine puts out more power than the S&S motor and almost as much torque, but as an in-line 3 the torque is more smoothly spread.
