We got ours from one of the dealers.
We had one before and they offered to sell it for a premium, lets just say it was advertised at quite a premium.

I would agree that it is best to start with the DVLA.
If you do go for one of the brokers then don't rush, they can usually reduce their price. Ask them if they own the plate on retension or are selling it on behalf of someone. If it is on behalf of someone then there is usually a good margin in it that can be worked on.
