I was chatting to a Wiltshire Traffic Officer about putting a black and silver ageless plate on a trad Mog and although he said it isn't allowed I got a strong impression that, at least in Wiltshire, as long as the ANPR camera gets a good clear read they are not overly fussy. .
Problem is Peter ANPR generally doesn't read non reflective plates such as Black and Silver. Not sure I would trust the opinion of one officer in one county anyway.
I have seen reflective black and silver plates on a car. Wonder who made them?
I agree, the opinion of one TO, especially in Wiltshire may not be that reliable an indicator of policy!
But finding them on the road in South Wiltshire is like winning the lottery.
There are just 1346 Warranted Officers to cover 1300 sq miles and 650,000 people. So they are spread very thin!
There used to be 2 Traffic cars in Salisbury, but since the closure of the main Police Station in Salisbury the TOs base has moved to Devises, 32 miles away. So they don't seem to venture here that often.
