There still is a major steel industry in France. As there is in Germany and in Italy. Even in Holland. Port Talbot is the last bulk steelmaking plant in Britain. If that shuts there is nothing much left bar a few small arc plants.
I find that quite interesting. The steel industries of France, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands are all operating in the same economic environment as the UK. Are they also making losses at the scale of the UK plants? If so, who is bailing them out? And if not, why not?
