I'm sure many will disagree but I do not oil airfilters.

Without a doubt oiled filters offer better filter performance but as they gather dust they fairly quickly start to clog up. I prefer to keep them dry and I simply wash them with warm water and detergent every few thousand kilometres. The small amount of dust that passes I am prepared to accept as a trade off for the increased performance.

My daughter had a nice oiled airfilter fire when here bike backfired when she tried to start it. The bike was saved by a quick thinking patron on the veranda of a nearby pub: he used a well shacken bottle of beer as a fire extiguisher.
After that I changed it back to a standard type of airfilter.
