More EU brilliance we might avoid if we left......
Thought this would make you laugh. I've been doing some digging to check what we can do with some data we collected when we made a live-stream broadcast of an awards event on Friday, through an American software company. Their Ts and Cs state that they comply with the EU Data Protection Directive, including its Safe Harbour Principles. When I looked these up, according to Wiki, they were overturned in October last year by the European Court of Justice. "What has replaced them?" I hear your cry....Well, the EU-US Privacy Shield of course. The thing is, that hasn't been signed off yet cos the committee are still wrangling over the terms. So unless I have missed something (entirely possible), it looks as if us EU'ers have no protection whatsoever in respect to use of our data by American firms........
