Dave, sooty exhaust on mine was helped enormously by the latest ecu update. Now much cleaner and my run to Sammy Millers and back on Saturday returned 40 mpg.
I also fitted an Oil pressure gauge in place of the clock, straightforward to do. Sourced all the bits from Holdens.
