Gosh, is anyone reading anything which is not about WWII ?
I am also reading (by accident) a book set in the closing years and aftermath of WWII - 'Gravity's Rainbow' by Thomas Pynchon. It's one of those books which other writers often cite as an influence - more like a distraction from their own writing, it's not an easy book.
I thought that like most '70s post-modern novels it would be set contemporaneously, so the WWII setting was a surprise to me.
Well, at least I feel like a proper member of TM now, previously I wouldn't knowingly pick up a factual book, let alone one about war history.
