What will I do. I guess the first thing is to have a bit of a chill out break and make some lists on how to survive on 25% of your previous salary.

Work out which of the 5 pages of jobs swmbo has written are really essential and then write my own to do.

Strangely the thing that scares me most is how I will cope with the lack of demand that work put on me. I will probably ring the work help line 20 times in the first week asking why I am not receiving any emails.

The advice I have is that I will be very busy for a while and then its into the caravan and off around Australia.

You have a partner and if you like doing things together then I think there's little danger of you falling into some post-work hole (would that be a post-hole?) What I noticed after leaving full time employment and entering part-time self-employment is the lack of an externally imposed structure in my day. You're right to worry about this but it will soon pass and you can make your own pace. But I think we all need a "sense of achievement" even in retirement and this still requires a bit of self discipline.

In a few months there will be no need for me to work anymore i.e. financially. But I'm currently planning a new work project because I know I will enjoy doing it. You might find the same urge arises - or not - but the great thing is you have choice and time . And a Morgan!! drive
