I had the same experience with grease oozing on top nipples until I realised that you need to hold the flexi near the nipple so that it is directly in line with the ball bearing entry point. This is why I use a trigger type grease gun (purchased from Williams) so that one hand can hold the flexi and the other can pump the grease.
