The objectives we have for the part are a few:
1) upgrade the “touch and feel” from Morgan’s plastic to aluminium
2) reduce the bulkiness of the original parts between engine and front of the bonnet
3) minimize the overhang on top that takes away from the clean V-twin look
4) maintain the use of original throttle cable that “sticks up”
What you see on the picture is the first mock-up, addressing mainly (1) and (2), with about an inch or more saved in the back.
For (3), the plan is to cut down the overhang, so the front width matches the width of the stage 1 S&S muscle cover, going into a T-shape towards the back where the mounting eyes are (for strength). Quite similar to the pre-urban cooling kit little piece of metal that was sitting on top - but on a slightly bigger scale.
For (4), we plan to drill a hole in the top that the throttle cable can feed through.
Flat black versus aluminium is a personal choice, but on my car with the bright pack and the chrome cowl, it just starts to look like too much “bling” up front.
