Have to say I too get a lot of reassurance from hearing the fan cut in on my new M3W when stuck in traffic. My old 2013 one used to get super hot and I used to be quite worried leaving it when I parked it in case some gawker burned himself on it. I’ve noticed on the new one that the exhausts don’t seem to get
as hot either (my last car burned a very nice hole in my hockey stick bag when I accidentally leant it against one of the exhausts!).
