Flashing headlights can be a very misleading signal and as a generalisation, I don't flash at all.
Accidents have been caused by drivers misinterpreting flashes as a signal that they can pull out and another driver could have seen your friendly slowdown flash and thought it was for them.
Could anyone be that stupid, I hear you ask?
Surely not with the very high standard of drivers we have on the roads these days.
