When I moved from my 4/4 to the Plus8 the extra torque was very noticeable. At first I was “lazy” and it was like an automatic. The 4/4 with a cvh efi (1993) was great in that using the gears/revs to keep up with Roadsters/ Plus8’s was fun.
The Plus8 took a bit of learning re response on exiting bends and roundabouts with rear end twitching especially in the wet. Straight line is never an issue but throttle control on bends definitely is! Learning to ease on the power through bends is critical. Without the myriad of driver aids you learn to drive the car by feel.
I haven’t driven a Plus6 but from comments it sounds easy to be over enthusiastic on bends ( is that why no LSD was fitted?).
A good 4cyl would be a very nice car with enough power but less torque to break traction of the rear wheels. It would hopefully bring the cost within reach too. I would be sorely tempted.
Sell my Plus8 for a new Plus4 CX? Perhaps the biggest barrier after swmbo.
There’s something about a V8......
