A good point Doug. An ‘inch’ might be a bit gung-ho but my horizontal portion does look like it was too long to start with. There looks to be too much length squeezes in. I will start by trying to tweak the metalwork as you suggest. I seem to has more clearance on my airbox than you have.
Jon makes a good point about temp. It’s the output from the cylinder head so probably the hottest hose in the engine reaching 100C plus.
Depending on access Rog, you might get away with cutting the hose shorter around the jubilee clip with a Stanley knife, then remove the clip, slot it along the length, peel it off, and shove the hose further on. You might only lose a few drips of coolant.
