Yes, that doesn't look good at all! I would be tempted to make up a U section to fit over the cut-away box section to protect the belt from that sharp edge. It would also give you a little more adjustment on your tensioner which looks to be pretty much at the end of it's travel. The fact that the strap is at the bottom of the adjuster slot indicates that it has probably been running too loose.
