For me the major problem is children. They must, by now, be well aware of the dangers but they simply don't give a damn. It has been shown that many of the households that have severe cases have been infected by younger members with little or no symptoms carrying the virus to parents and grandparents.
Peter,
why should we expect the young give a damn about us?
From their perspective our generation has "had it all" and now live in comfortable retirement with often significant assets in property and savings.
Bluntly, we are in the way of their inheritances. Rationally, it is hard to disagree.
The know COVID won't harm them to any significant degree, if one of us gets it and dies it is sad, but not the end of their world. When my Grandparents died in the early 70s I was sad, but I swiftly consigned them to memories but when my parents died it was different.
Our kids are thoughtful and help, but I wouldn't expect any other kids to be so.
It is our responsibility to stay safe, which we do. But I don't expect any of the younger generation to go out of their way to help us stay safe.
