Some thoughts:
1. UK electricity consumption has declined from a peak in the early 2000s. Moving *all* current road cars to EV in 1 go would not overcome that peak, and of course EV conversion will still take decades.
2. Home charging is not needed for EVs. So terraced house owners can still run an EV, but they will need to visit a charge station like a petrol station.
3. I see you can get a Pug e208 from a broker for around £25K today. Probably 150 miles real range, or say 100 + reserve. Most folk drive 30-60 a day? And if they can charge at work...
4. What of big ships still spewing CO2? They have the space to add big carbon scrubbers, or even become H-powered! Political will to do that is another matter.
5. What that airliners continue to pour CO2 into the atmosphere? Funny enough just reading the story of Pratt and Whitney engines (fascinating read by the way) - they built a H-powered jet engine in the 50s for the US military. Only problem is you need a great big cylinder for fuel storage, but that might be ok in a flying wing configuration...

I suspect Morgan will use or at least demo some BMW EV tech in a “Plus E” CX chassis within 3 or 4 years. The new iX3 e-motor is meant to be pretty efficient. Plenty of under-bonnet space for a battery pack, motor in the rear. wink

Needless to say I won’t sign this petition. smile
