One other thing going for the Harley M-8 motor is that they are offered for touring with one counterbalance shaft and for the Softails, they have dual counterbalance shafts. They are super smooth.
Pete used the earlier Twin-Cam "B" motors with the dual counterbalance shafts in his Liberty ACE three wheeler. I've ridden a few of the later, but prior to the M-8, Softails and they are so smooth they are solid mounted to the bike frames, no rubber mounts at all.
Something tells me though that Harley would not be too willing to sell motors for the M3W, just a gut feeling.
