In a previous episode......

As I mentioned in what seems months ago (probably seems longer for you poor readers !!!) I had approached the Citroen community with details of the 54 2CV and received lots of useful information on UK built Citroens, the build date of my car and leads to obtain some missing rare parts.

Very helpful....a bit like Talk Morgan but with a whiff of garlic and onions.

Then I received two private messages..one from a Belgian collector wishing to buy the car as is for a large sum of euros...

The other message rather disarmed me and became the catalyst for a series of unexpected events....

It was a message from a gentleman who purported to know the original owner in the photograph...and was in fact his grandson !!!!!!

We exchanged a number of messages and he sent me the only photo he had of him in the car in 1961 when he was nine.

He expressed a wish to see the car but Covid 19 restrictions prevented that unfortunately

We then had a number of phone calls and he was clearly understandably very emotional about the discovery of his grandads car.

Then the request I was expecting...would I be prepared to sell the car to him as he saw it as part of his Family history ?

He offered to pay a sizeable profit on my buying price and for my time and efforts and he would restore it in memory of his grandad.

.I told him I would consider the offer and contact him in the next few days.

I had to decisions to make...I needed to listen to the Jesuits talking in my head and also talk it through with The Splinter Group: DaveW..accomplished ,published author and two Morgan owning wine expert, and SBM ex Police Officer,ex Morgan owner,ex lots of other things.

I had found and bought the project for Winter restoration,a different opposite driving experience to my Supersports,....but how special to find a car that what is important in your Family history ..special !!
