A big side effect of all this is that many companies are involved in legal wrangles over penalty clauses.
A lot of JIT contracts involve penalty clauses if a supplier stops a production line but many include a Force Majeure get out clause.
There are a number of cases to determine whether the current situation constitutes Force Majeure or should suppliers have foreseen this and therefore have contingency strategies in place.
