JJW - if I wanted a new Morgan and the only way was to buy a rolling chassis and have the engine fitted locally, that's what I would do.

I suppose those MG were sold as MG's, not as Abingdon Roadsters?
But more importantly maybe, did those MG's come with factory support and the same warantee? In that case I agree, no problem. If not, I would at least hope to pay less.
