THE fire, that turned a once beautiful building into a ruin.
Sucha shame - although devastating, the building was eminently repairable - however the money wasn't there and decades of 'salvagers' stripped the building completely.
The ruins featured heavily in my youth and I have a real fondness for the place. One of my best mates got married there.
