Sometimes people realise during an overtaking maneouvre that they've misjudged it and need to put their foot down to get out of trouble.....with a speed limiter there may be no response from the engine at the critical moment.
Same thought occurred to me, leaving driver in a very dangerous situation. Am I naive in thinking the legislators must have thought of and covered that scenario though

AIUI the limiter would disengage when the throttle pedal is pressed hard, to be replaced by audible/visual warnings. When the car is switched off the system would reset. Can't see a problem myself, especially as there's a very simple solution - don't buy a new car and keep the old one!
