As the limit can be over-ridden by the driver just by pressing the accelerator ... and the only downside being an onboard alarm ... it's not much different from the voluntary speed alarm you could set on Mrs Images Audi, other than you can't switch it off... hard to see how they could actually remotely interfere with the driver's ability to accelerate out of trouble without facing massive potential lawsuits for any resulting damage .... now, getting your car to snitch on you to the rozzers via wifi is a distinct possibility.

Just imagine a stretch of road where there had been say a temporary 50 limit but that was now gone & the limit was 60. If the GPS sin't bang up to date that alarm would become very annoying.
Keith's hit it right in my mind, in the future the cars GPS will be used to charge per mile driven and if you go over the limit then a fixed penalty turns up in the post, nice little earner!
John, I already get that in our Volvo. It is supposed to show the posted speed limit using its front camera and GPS. But every now and again the limit changes and it gets caught out, indicating the wrong speed usually higher. Well Milord, it was actually the car telling me to go faster!
