BTW, as an alternative to taking the tank out, some people have been known to cut out the piece of wood above the pump and then joint it back in after the pump replacement.
I don't like that method as it's compromising the frame but it has been done. Whether it was successful and gave a secure long term fix to the frame, I'm not sure.
