So, are both my Boxster S and Plus 8 "toys"? [Can't say man or woman now]

I'd argue that any vehicle that is more complex or more powerful than the minimum needed to transport the intended load is a toy.
By my reckoning about 33% of all cars on the road are "toys", most of them the product of German or Italian owned companies.
I'm not going to speculate on what this means, but comment that toys are bought to make the owner happy. Both the Porsche and Morgan make me happy, in very different ways. They also annoy me in very different ways.

Let's go further....most of the things I buy are toys, in that they do more than the basic job, but make me and SWMBO happy.
