One does occasionally cast an eye over the latest offerings from these so-called ‘up-and-coming’ automakers, only to be met with what can best be described as design déjà vu. It’s as if they’ve raided the parts bin of every major marque and cobbled together a sort of Frankenstein’s motorcar — part homage, part plagiarism, and entirely devoid of charm. The whole exercise smacks of desperation, wrapped in cheap chrome and dashed hopes. I daresay one might find more originality at a village fête bake-off. Uninspired, unimaginative, and about as appealing as cold tea on a rainy Tuesday.
I actually feel that the EV designs from most of the "up and coming" automakers bear little or no resemblance to the "major" marques. Tesla, for example, don't remind me of anything in particular and BYD, Hyundai, Kia and MG are quite distinctive IMHO.
Also I'm not sure why you think that their approach "smacks of desperation" BYD, for example, now make four times more EV's than the largest European EV maker (VW) and more cars worldwide than BMW.
