I think there's a difference between stuff that's a result of poor quality control and elements of the underlying design.
I completely agree that when one is spending 50k + on a car one has a reasonable expectation that it's been built properly, but there are elements of the design and the way that the car is built that mean a certain variation is inevitable. Certainly there's no excuse for poor alignment along the top hinge, but the gap between bonnet and wing has always been wide on Mogs.
If you think about what it would cost to have a car properly hand built to a high standard, you just have to look at what the top line restorers charge for their work. At those kind of rates, 30k for a 4/4 Sport looks like a complete bargain IMO.
