The lower hose does have a slightly larger bore but it also has a thicker wall section and is made from a different softer synthetic type of material and pulls up fine on the barbed fitting.
In my case it also looked like a leak between the hose and tee interface but in fact the tee itself had a radial crack in line with the end of the hose that could not be seen with the tee fitted up on the hoses.
Once the tee is removed and flexed in your fingers the fracture becomes visible. If I were a betting man I would put money on yours being the same. I would not exactly describe the plastic tee as being a robust component and is worthy of close inspection.
