Obviously perception of ride quality, damping, etc. is all very subjective and dependant not only on individual taste but also the nature of the test road.
One thing that has come out from another post, and as I suspected from earlier posts, is that the position of the header pipes is not the same on all cars. Very simply they are not locked in one position and, just like most motorbikes, can be rotated to a different position. My first action after perceiving a clearance problem would not be to adjust the shocks but to try to adjust the header pipe position. It would be necessary to slacken off all clamps and fixings, move the pipe, and then re-tighten the clamps.
