My speedometer and digital readings match as well and I thought everything was fine but presumably both readings are derived from the same sensor and as they are both part of the same speedometer it makes sense they read the same. I would check against a gps which will hopefully confirm everything is ok but if not I can't believe it should be that difficult to recalibrate the speedometer, once we have the information on how to do it.
Reading the VDU web instructions the speedometer would have been calibrated, or not, at build and it seems a few minutes work would put it right. I can only assume that when my car was built the wrong pulse reading was input or it was installed with whatever standard configuration is supplied.
