Ford uses this system on many, many cars that don't suffer this problem. So why does it happen to Morgans?

Some thoughts:

1. Could it be that the fuel hose isn't exactly the same as the Ford stuff? slightly less malleable or something, so that there is more tension or strain on the clips?

2. Is vibration transmitted through the hoses or tank doing it?

3. Would mounting the pipes so they are suspended and free to move help?

On Tarka the fittings are all BMW or VDO and the hoses are long and bendy, not really fixed at all to the frame until quite a distance from the tank.
