I did look at the S&S instructions and it looks pretty simple.


With the push rods out the rod tube covers come out. This leaves just an open to atmosphere below the heads. It's easy to cover to protect the lifter galley area at that time. You would also just be extra careful on the inside of the heads in the valve galley area.

I've been a while since I looked at the valve train on an S&S, but the push rod would move front to rear relative to the mounting in the M3W. If the roller rocker arms are a higher ratio than stock, it would mean that the push rod end of the rocker arm would be slightly shorter and that would put the push rod nearer the back side of the tube opening. So that area would need to be clearance just a bit.

In general, just going from plain rocker arms to roller rocker arms, does not necessarily give you a higher ratio.

I believe that S&S uses Chevy type rocker arms, at least that's what they look like to me. Why make something that you can buy already made up...
