Tip of the iceberg, look at his list...

Along with the ISA, the EU also released a list of all additional safety features that have to be included which are:
•Advanced emergency braking (cars, vans)
•Alcohol interlock installation facilitation (cars, vans, trucks, buses)
•Drowsiness and attention detection (cars, vans, trucks, buses)
•Distraction recognition / prevention (cars, vans, trucks, buses)
•Event (accident) data recorder (cars, vans, trucks, buses)
•Emergency stop signal (cars, vans, trucks, buses)
•Full-width frontal occupant protection crash test – improved seatbelts (cars and vans)
•Head impact zone enlargement for pedestrians and cyclists -safety glass in case of a crash (cars and vans)
•Intelligent speed assistance (cars, vans, trucks, buses)
•Lane keeping assist (cars, vans)
•Pole side-impact occupant protection (cars, vans)
•Reversing camera or detection system (cars, vans, trucks, buses)
•Tyre pressure monitoring system (vans, trucks, buses)
•Vulnerable road user detection and warning on the front and side of the vehicle (trucks and buses)
•Vulnerable road user improved direct vision from the driver’s position (trucks and buses)

Seems like a lot of work for software and operational systems development companies!
As pedestrians make up a quarter of the fatal road accident statistics I wonder how long it will be before they have to carry warning devices too?
I can perfectly understand that there is an intent to reduce accidents but there must be something more behind all this, after all there are three times as many potentially avoidable fatal accidents in the home and all of which cost the same in terms of NHS consequential care costs. I don't see any drive to reduce these.
The recording log will be a major issue in claims and insurance settlements that alone in terms of prosecution and that won't just be about adherence to speed limits but interpretations about how safe it was to travel at the recorded speed in the event of an accident.
This context must also raise the question of how long it will be before vehicles without any of these devices, i.e. our aged Morgans, are not allowed on the roads?
