Such a device would be usefull in RTC’s etc with logged data. A modern car ecu system has the ability to show such data butto what extent I am not sure.
I would be wary about a device cutting in to control my car based solely on a speed limit. What about other vehicles in the vicinity? I remember a track day in a dual controlled car at Silverstone. On Wellington straight at full tilt I braked at the marker cone but felt the pedal go away as the instructor pressed his. Very disconcerting to say the least as I fleetingly thought the brakes were failing!
It seems like a step towardsdriverless cars.
Didn’t JLR fit a traffic light sensing system to control your speed to facilitate less stopping? Alarming.

Just an after thought...why not have anaudible warning built into the vehicle linked to speed limit instead? My satnav has this so with satnav becoming standard in cars easy to do.
