It wouldn’t work in the UK Peter. Any improvement to the travel infrastructure would take decades, requiring huge consultancy costs, public enquiries, protests from nimbies etc not to mention change of mind from successive governments. And then the focus would be on improving the south east of the country rather than the whole.
